About this test

What to expect

This test follows the TOEFL iBT 2026 adaptive Listening format: a first module, then a second module matched to how you did on the first. You'll hear short questions, conversations, announcements and academic talks, each played only once, and answer multiple-choice questions after each one. Take notes as you listen. There's no penalty for a wrong or blank answer, so answer every question you can.

How the Listening section works

Two modules, and you hear each recording once. How you do in the first module decides whether the second is harder or easier.

Then, depending on how it went

Module 2 · harder11 min

If Module 1 went well

Module 2 · easier7 min

If Module 1 was harder going

These times include the recordings. Your clock only runs while you answer.
